Terms & Conditions
In order to confirm your booking, you need to agree to the Terms and Conditions of African Travels. We ask you to read through the Terms and Conditions carefully.
Your booking is only confirmed after you receive a written confirmation from African Travels (by e-mail to your email address).
Once your booking is confirmed, the following rules apply. Should African Travels for any reason does not accept your booking you will receive a full refund immediately.
If a 4x4 car rental is part of your trip, please read the terms and conditions of the local car rental company.
Passport, visas and other travel documents
It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that passports, visas, health certificates, proof of vaccinations and other required documentation is in order for the countries to be visited. African Travels can not be held responsible if any of the above documents are not in order. On the website you will find all the necessary information. African Travels and its partners are not responsible for the consequences, damages or claims if the client does not have all the required documents in order which results in them not being able to go on the trip.
Insurance
Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance is recommended during the time of travel. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that the correct travel insurance is in place to protect them from any financial loss caused by a missed trip.
Luggage
All baggage and personal items remain the customers responsibility at all times and African Travels and its partners accept no liability in any way for any loss or damage to the property of the customer.
The per person luggage restrictions on most major arlines allows a suitcase of up to 23 kg and one piece of hand luggage. We recommend the use of a a backpack or soft sports bag in place of hard cases . On charter flights and private jets addtional luggage restictions may apply.
Risks
The client accepts that all tours that have an adventurous nature also carry an element of personal risk. Neither African Travels or any of its partners will be held responsible in any way whatsoever for any injury, death or property damage in any way whatsoever occur. The customer agrees and accepts African Travels and its partners will not be liable for any such claims. The customer accepts full responsibility for all risks during travel.
African Travels and its partners carry out all reasonable checks to ensure to ensure that those involved in the preparation and implementation of holiday adhere to the proper standards. The descriptions, information and advice in the description of your journey in good faith, based on the latest information available at the time of publishing.
Health
It is important to know in advance which vaccinations and malaria requirements are prior to travelling. Always consult your doctor or local health authorities for advice.
The client accepts that to participate in a trip, a certain level of physical condition and required health is required and the clients responsibility to ensure they are medically fit to make the trip. African Travels and its partners require a doctor's certificate or a self certification that a client is medical fit, when a customer is over 65 years of age.
Authority during the trip
The decisions of the guide during the trip will at all times conclusive and binding. The customer shall at all times within the laws, use conditions and customs of the countries visited to be met. If the customer does not comply with the above or if the customer is a burden for the rest of the group, then the guide can decide to exclude the client from specific trips without any refund.
Marketing
African Travels and its partners reserve the right to use any picture or video recording that they themselves make while traveling for marketing purposes or for advertising material and the customer therefore consents to the use of these photographs or video recordings. African Travels will own the copyright to any such materials.
Unforeseen circumstances such as wars, mechanical problems on vehicles, weather, strikes, riots and other unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of African Travels and any delays this may cause will not be the responsibility of African Travels and cannot be held in any way responsible for whatsoever such consequences result.
Group size
Each trip indicates the minimum and maximum number of participants allowed. In the unlikely event that the minimum number of participants is not reached and the trip cannot go ahead then you will receive a full refund no later than 21 days prior to your scheduled departure.
Traveling alone
As a single traveller on a group safari a single supplement will apply if you want to have your own room. The amounts of the single supplement can be found at the additional information to the particular trip.
Payment and invoice
Payments can be made by Bank Transfer or Credit / Debit Card. The booking is confirmed only when the deposit payment or full payment has been received.
A 20% deposit is required to secure the booking if the departure date is more than 60 days away. The balance will need to be paid no later than 60 days prior to departure.
If the trip is booked within 30 days prior to the departure date, the full payment needs to be paid within 48 hours after receipt of the invoice.
Payments for Airfare must be paid immediately.
Travel documents and visas
The client is responsible for ensuring that the correct travel documents are in place prior to departure. Its recommended that the passport is valid for at least six months and have adequate blank pages for entry visa stamps. If there is insufficient space in the passport, the traveller may be refused entry to a country and will then have to return to their country of origin. African Travels will not be liable for any cost arising from this.
Cancellation Policy Tours and Safaris
If a customer decides to cancel a tour, the following amount will be refunded dependant on time before the departure date:
More than 55 days or more –
The deposit retain African Travels a deposit of 25% of the total amount. When a booking is cancelled shorter than 54 days before the trip begins, the following cancellation fee: 43-54 days - 35% of the total amount, 28 to 41 days - 50% of the total amount, 14 to 27 days - 75% of the total amount and less than 14 days before departure - 100% of the total amount.
Every customer who after the departure date of a trip takes part, or not at all, or just leave the trip before it is terminated for any reason whatsoever, is not entitled to a refund of money from African Travels nor of its partners, and can not claim a claim for any additional costs. Group tours go through subject to a minimum number of customers. When that number is not reached, retain African Travels or its partners the right to cancel the trip. There is then entitled to a full refund of the total amount. Normally 4 weeks before departure clearly or the journey continues. African Travels and its partners reserve the right to cancel a trip, without prior notification when this is unavoidable. In that case the customer the amount already paid back. This is the sole responsibility of African Travels and its partners to the customer and no other claim be deposited.
Changes
You can amend your trip at a cost of £100 administration fee plus any additional costs caused by the changes. Changes within 30 days before departure are subject to the cancellation policy as previously mentioned plus any communications and other expenses. All changes are effective after written confirmation received by African Travels.
Special requests
Dietary required should be given to African Travels prior to making the booking to ensure these requirements are passed to the tour operator in a timely fashion. The tour operator will do everything possible to meet these requirements.
